Michigan Top 40, Day 24 | Nirvana at the Blind Pig, Ann Arbor (1990)
Credit to Damn Arbor for finding and sharing this video last summer. My favorite part of the show is when Chris Novoselic complains about the tiny beers at the Blind Pig.

Michigan Top 40, Day 21 | Brian Mulloy Smokes the Peace Pipe with Chief Pontiac
My favorite speaker at TEDxDetroit 2011 was Brian Mulloy of Michigan Essay. When I see other folks get choked up talking about Michigan I know I’m not alone in my love for the Great Lakes. Such a fantastic presentation. Check out the full version of Chief Pontiac: Detroit’s Original Badass, below.

Michigan Top 40, Day 19 | TAYSHAUN!
If Bill Laimbeer is my favorite Piston of all time, Tayshaun Prince is surely number two. Tayshaun has plenty of NBA highlights, but this clip from Kentucky is just too good.

Michigan Top 40, Day 18 | Down Goes GVSU’s Mascot
As far as lipdubs go, Grand Valley State University’s was pretty darn good, but nowhere near as good as this blooper from the filming. Watch the official GVSU lipdub.

Is there a better show on TV than Under the Radar Michigan? No, no there’s not. I particularly enjoyed the Petoskey episode for the Hemingway feature.

Michigan Top 40, Day 14 | Da Yoopers “Second Week of Deer Camp”
We’re through the second week of the Michigan Top 40, a fitting occasion for the “Second Week of Deer Camp.” Though the more I think of it, the Michigan Top 40 probably should have been 40 videos from Da Yoopers.

Michigan Top 40, Day 13 | Matt Stafford, Wired
How exciting is it have a quarterback we can rally behind? There’s a lot of reasons to love Matt Stafford; this is the game that sold me. “I can throw the ball if you need me to throw the ball.” Sorry about the low quality video (the NFL is confused about YouTube). Gets really good around the 3:33 mark.

To be fair, I like the People Mover. But "People Mover, bad decision" is such a lyrical gem. For more great songs about the Great Lakes, check out Sufjan Stevens' "Greetings from Michigan."
